Local Sports Briefs: August 25

  • CKXS-Morning-Sports-BriefsLuke Van Rycheghem is on his way to Japan to represent Canada. The Kent Bridge catcher was selected to the Canadian Under-18 team for the Under-18 World Baseball Cup that starts Friday in Osaka Japan.
  • The Six Nations Arrows take to the floor tonight in Minto Cup Lacrosse action against the Coquitlam Adanacs. Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston is tied for the Arrows lead in scoring in the Canadian Jr “A” Lacrosse Championship Series with two goals and five assists. The best of five series is tied at one game apiece.
  • The Chatham Strikers Girls U16 team won the London and District Youth Soccer League Challenge Cup on Sunday. The Strikers beat the South End Blue Devils 2-1 in the Championship game. Ceara Travis and Brooke McKinnon scored for the Strikers.
  • The Chatham Attack take on Marconi “B” tonight in the Second Cup Final of the London and District Soccer Association while the Wallaceburg Sting will play Simcoe tomorrow night in the First Division cup final. The Sting topped the White Eagle 2-0 in First Division action on Sunday thanks to goals by Robert Attardi and Casey McGhee.
