Local Sports Briefs: August 28
- 25-year-old Derek Drouin from Corunna,, easily qualified for Sunday’s high jump final, at the World Track and Field Championships clearing the qualifying mark of 2.31 metres on his first attempt….Drouin is the current Canadian High Jump champ and won Gold at the Pan-Am Games in Toronto.
- Jordan Durston of Wallaceburg had two assists for the Six Nations Arrows in an 8-2 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs in Game 5 of the Minto Cup final last night….The Arrows lead 3-2 in the Canadian junior ‘A’ lacrosse championship series…The Arrows could retain the Minto Cup in Game 6 on Saturday night if it is needed Game 7 will be Sunday night
- Chatham Youth Soccer Association will hold it’s annual day of mini finals for 8 divisions tomorrow on the fields behind the Court House on Grand Ave West…everything starts at 9:30 in the morning
