Local Sports Briefs: August 7, 2015
- The Wallaceburg Griffins Pee Wee squad are Provincial Champs. The Griffins won the Zone 7 Provincials after an amazing season thanks to a record of 30-3-1.
- Jordan Durston had three assists as the Six Nations Arrows beat the Peterborough Lakers 9-3 in the Jr “A” Lacrosse Championship Series. The Arrows lead the series two games to one.
- Barry Poole of Chatham will be enshrined into the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame in October. Poole was the wheelman for the Border Bandits Racing team that was put together by Sandy and John Elliott. He was the Sports Stock Magazine Driver of The Year in 1970 and drove to the 1970 and 1971 Winternationals Championship.
