Warriner was destined for greatness from a young age and became a sure-fire NHL prospect in the OHL where most of his playing days were spent with the Windsor Spitfires, the same team he now provides colour commentary for. Warriner played 162 OHL games,s coring 109 goals and adding 115 helpers for 224 total points.
Warriner was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques as their first-round pick, #4 overall, in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He did not play for Quebec though. He played for several teams in the NHL including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators.
