Luke Van Rycheghem has worn the Canadian uniform multiple times already this summer, and he’ll be wearing it again this month after the catcher, who hails from Kent Bridge, was named to Canada’s U18 baseball roster.

Van Rycheghem earned his roster spot for the WBSC U18 World Cup after competing with Canada in a series against Australia’s U18 roster this month.

The UCC student, who plays club baseball for the Ontario Blue Jays, played previously for Canada this summer at the Dominican Summer League series.

Van Rycheghem, who stands six-foot-three, is eligible for the 2016 MLB draft and is one of two catchers on Canada’s roster.

Leaving for Osaka, Japan Tuesday, Canada will be joined by Cuba, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Italy and South Africa in Group B.

Canada will open the WBSC World Cup tournament on August 28 against Chinese Taipei at Nanko Chuo Stadium.
