Kent Bridge’s Luke Van Rycheghem has taken his baseball skills down under as the catcher is suiting up for Canada’s U18 selection camp in Australia this week.

Canada will play an 8 game series against a group of prospective players for Australia’s U18 team beginning August 17.

Both countries will use the series as a tryout to select their 20 player rosters for the upcoming WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Osaka, Japan. The tournament takes place from August 28 – September 6.

Van Rycheghem, who played club ball this summer for the Ontario Blue Jays, made his international debut for Canada’s National Junior team earlier this summer at the Dominican Summer League series.

The catcher recently committed to play NCAA baseball for Stetson University in Florida.

Australia and Canada will play at 1pm each day from August 17 to August 24.
