Sasseville Wins Bronze

A Chatham athlete competed at the Lakeside Kids of Steel this past weekend in the closing event for the Youth Cup Triathlon season. Genevieve Sasseville (12) raced against the best aged 12/13 triathletes from around the province in a very chilly open water swim, bike, and run. The day’s weather had athletes wearing hats, gloves, and sweaters but didn’t prevent them from racing a great triathlon.

Sasseville placed 3rd in this event capturing the bronze medal and tied for 4th place in the overall Youth Cup standings.

According to Sasseville, “I’m already looking forward to competing again next year.”

This race was the final triathlon of the Ontario Youth Cup series, sanctioned by Triathlon Ontario. The Youth Cup events attract the fastest 12/13 and 14/15 athletes from across the province to compete for the coveted Youth Cup award.

Athletes complete in a minimum of three sanctioned triathlons across Ontario, where points are awarded for overall placement.
