Kings Put Up Tough Fight In Loss To 73’s
The Dresden Jr Kings proved they shouldn’t be overlooked in a 3-1 loss to the Essex 73’s on Tuesday night.
Dresden was 0 for 6 on the powerplay but came into the third period in a one-goal game, down 2-1 – much more than most teams can say when playing Essex in recent years.
Dresden’s lone goal came unassisted from Derek Daly with 2:15 left in the second. The goal was Daly’s second on the year.
William Stadder, Phillip Janikowski and Michael Vieira lit the lamp for the now 5-1 73’s.
Dresden netminder Joel Sowkinski stopped 39 of 42 shots. Trevor Wheaten stopped 35 of 36 for Essex.
The Kings move into 4th place with a record of 2-2-1. Dresden hosts the 6th place 1-1-1 Blenheim Blades at home on Friday night.
