Maroons Lose Final Tuneup, Roster Finalized
Chatham fell 6-5 to Sarnia Wednesday night in their final tuneup, as Sarnia’s Hunter Tyszyuski scored in overtime to decide the game.
Austin Thompson, a product of the Wheatley Sharks, led the way for Chatham scoring two goals and adding an assist. Connor Kovaik, who played last season with Victory Honda U18 in Michigan, had three assists.
Also scoring for Chatham were Blair Derynck, Mart Fratarcangelli, and Luc Knight.
The Maroons also finalized their roster, which includes rookie goaltenders Colin Lauzon and Parker Butler.
On the blueline, only Connor MacKinnon returns from last season, while Michael Levesque, who played forward for the Maroons last season will spend time on the blueline. Chatham also acquired Jordan Winter, who played for the St. Marys Lincolns, and will attend St. Clair College, and brought back Dede Cato, who played a portion of last season in Chatham before finishing the year with the Dresden Kings.
Ben Nicholls, Logan Percy, and Michael Douglas round out Chatham’s blueline.
Up front there were more familiar faces including Luc Knights, Steven Beenackers, Brayden Hopkins, Mark Fratarcangelli, Ian Faubert, and Gus Ford, as well as Teddy McGeen and Hunter Burk who spent stints with the Maroons. Rookies Thompson, Kovaik, Derynck, Ross Krieger, and Josh Barraclough round out the lineup.
Chatham will play Niagara Falls Saturday, and Listowel Sunday at the Showcase event.
