September 15 : Local Sports Briefs

– The defending champion Essex 73’s flexed their muscles last night as they beat the Wheatley Sharks 9-1 in Great Lakes Jr C play. The 73’s are back in action tonight as they host the Mooretown Flags.

– Thamesville’s Dane Fox scored the tying goal for the Vancouver Canucks as they beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 in overtime last night at the Young Stars Classic in B.C.

– Trent Fox of Thamesville sat out yesterday’s game as his St Louis Blues Rookie team beat the Minnesota Wild 7-1. Fox’s Blues will play the Carolina Hurricane for third place this afternoon in Traverse City Michigan.

– The mother/daughter duo of Lisa Harnarine and Olivia Lozon won the Ladies Double “A” Division Championship at the Chatham Tennis Club while Liz Steward won the Ladies Single Title.  

– The Chatham-Kent Ball Hawks are holding tryouts tonight for Girls under 15-18. The tryouts start at 7:30pm, go to chathamballhawksvbc.com for more info.Essex-73s-Logo
