September 18 : Local Sports Briefs

– The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame held their annual induction ceremony last night at the W.I.S.H. Centre honouring several athletes for their accomplishments in sport. The inductees included Derek Krete, Jim Maynard, Joe Malo, Bill Stobbs and the 1989-90 Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks Sr. Boys Volleyball team.
– Thamesville’s Dane Fox will be in the Vancouver Canucks training camp that starts today. The 21-year-old Fox had a goal and three assists for Vancouver in the recent Young Guns games. Bo Horvat of Rodney will also be in the Canucks camp.
– The Dresden Jr. Kings will try to remain undefeated tonight when they host the Amherstberg Admirals as one of three games on the Great Lakes Jr C Schedule. Two other games will feature Blenheim travelling to Lakeshore while Mooretown will host Essex.
– In OHL action tonight Joseph Raaymakers and his Soo greyhounds are in Saginaw against the Spirit while Brady Pataki and the Sudbury Wolves will be hosting the Barrie Colts.
– The CK Golden Hawks beat the UCC Lancers in 12-man football action. Nolan Ball threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way for CKSS. The Wallaceburg Tartans take on Sarnia St Clair in 8-man Football while John McGregor will be home to Blenheim.
– Sr. Girls “A” Basketball play from yesterday saw the LK Cardinals beat Tilbury 48-9. Jade Johnston and Maddy VanRycheghem each had nine points for the Cards.
– Danielle Lucier scored 11 points for ESPC in a 22-11 win over Chatham Christian.
– The Cardinals picked up a win in the Jr. Girls ranks as well with a 33-16 win over Tilbury. Julia Verseure had 10 points for Lambton-Kent.Sports-Poll
