September 25: Local Sports Briefs
– The Dresden Kings will be hosting the Blenehim Blades in one of three Great Lakes Jr C games tonight. Alvinston is home to Wheatley while Mooretown travels to Lakeshore.
– The Chatham Maroons will hit the trail tonight as they are in St Thomas to play the Stars.
– In OHL action the Erie Otters beat the Windsor Spitfires 4-3 in OT. Spits Goalie Brendan Johnson was out of the line up with a concussion for Windsor. Travis Konecny of Clachan scored twice for the Ottawa 67’s in a 5-4 loss to Peterbrough.
– The Spitfires made the bus ride last night after the game to the Soo as they will play against The Greyhounds and Chatham’s Joseph Raaymakers tonight. Thamesville’s Trent Fox and his Hamilton Bulldogs are in London to play the Knights while Wallaceburg’s Brady Pataki and the Sudbury Wolves will be hosting the Niagara Ice Dogs. The Sarnia Sting will hold their home opener tonight as they are home to the Erie Otters.
– The Wallaceburg Tartans and Blenheim bobcats played to a 22-22 tie in LKDSSAA 8Man Football play while today the John McGregor Panthers travel to St Clair to play the Colts.
– The CK Golden Hawks swept their games with Sarnia St Pat’s thanks to a 54-48 win at the Sr. Level and a 54-43 win in the Jr. game. Jana Kucera scored 21 points to lead the Sr. Hawks while Avia Stone het for 16 and Taryn Dudley scored 12 in the Jr. Hawks victory.
– The ESPC Patriots beat Blenheim 34-26 in Sr. Girls play thanks to 13 points from Aubry Michaud. Kasey Dorssers had 12 points for Blenheim in the loss. Sophia Perani scored nine points for Ridgetown in a 39-5 win over Tilbury.
– In Jr. Girls “A” play Lydia Hall netted nine points to lead the way for Blenheim as they beat ESPC 28-13. Joelle Tetrault scored six for Pain Court. Ridgetown beat Tilbury 42 as Lauren Edwards poured in 15 for the Royals.
– Wallaceburg’s Brad McCarther coached Israel to a 13-12 win over the Czech Republic in quarter-final play at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. McCarther’s Israeli squad plays Canada today in semi-final play.
