Sharks Snag 1st Win, Lakers Still Searching
The Wheatley Omstead Sharks took a bite out of the Wallaceburg Lakers on Monday night in a battle of teams searching for their first win on the early season.
A high scoring affair, good news for both teams as they show some offensive promise, Wheatley skated to a 9-5 final. The Sharks had four unanswered goals in the second and three consecutive in the third in front of a home crowd.
Jack Leafeve led the way for Wheatley with six points – a hat trick and three assists. Lucas Raffoul added two goals and one assist. Alex Ritchie cashed in for two Wallaceburg goals and added an assist on a Dylan Ryan goal. Rookie Brett Farr and Justin Lindsay also scored for the Lakers.
Wallaceburg goalie Derion Ducedre continues to stay busy between the pipes, seeing 40 total shots. Adam Leboeuf of Wheatley stopped 17 of 22 shots.
The Sharks move into 7th place with a 1-3 record. The Lakers and Alvinston Flags remain without a win. Wallaceburg will look for their first win at home Wednesday night against Lakeshore.
