Strikers Finish Atop League, Win Challenge Cup Silver
Their first match was against Middlesex United Momentum. Jessica Conrod capitalized on a through ball from Shelbie Coristine to go up 1-0. The Strikers kept the pressure on. Conrod crossed the ball to Kennedey Jack who made a nice finish. Late in the game Middlesex scored off a free kick to finish the game 2-1. Payton Sabourin did a fantastic job shutting down Middlesex United’s known scoring threat.
Chatham met the Sarnia Spirit in the Semi Finals. The Strikers played a very physical hard fought battle. Taryn Dudley had a great shot from the deep in the left corner to go up 1-0. Minutes later Dudley took the Strikers to a 2-0 lead off another well place shot from the left sideline. Dudley finished with a flawless hat trick to make the score 3-0 at half. The Chatham Strikers dominated the match with outstanding defensive play from Clair Boughner, Alison Stephens, and Joelle Tetrault. Hunter Gagner is awarded the shut out.
Chatham met North London Galaxy in the final. Despite having defeated them 4 times throughout the season, the Strikers were outmatched in the final. North London came out hard and fast and took the match 4-1. The lone Striker goal went to Jessica Conrod.
The Chatham Strikers finished first in the LDYSL L5 League with a record of 10 wins, 3 ties and 2 losses. They had 30 goals for and only 10 goals against all season.
