October 13: Local Sports Briefs
– The Wheatley Sharks downed the Lakeshore Canadiens 9-4 in Great Lakes Junior C Hockey play last night. Tonight the Essex 73’s will battle Amherstberg.
– Thamesville’s Trent Fox scored his first OHL Hat Trick and he added an assist but it wasn’t enough as the London Knights beat his Hamilton bulldogs 8-6. Brady Pataki of Wallaceburg was held of the score sheet as Kitchener beat his Sudbury Wolves 8-2, Levi Tetrault and his Guelph Storm were also blanked 2-0 by Oshawa while Matt Rabideau’s North Bay Battalion beat Missisauga 5-3.
– The Saint Clair Saints are National Champs today after winning the CCSA Championship on the weekend as they beat Western 2-1 in the Gold Medal game. Mackenzie Noah of Thamesville was named to the all-star team after hitting .273 and driving in 6 runs. Jessica Jamieson of Wallaceburg and Abigail Sloan of Muirkirk were also on the team.
– The Kent TekSavvy Minor Atom Cobras lost twice to the Windsor Junior Spitfires 3-2 and 4-2 in weekend action while Meaghan Fife scored twice and added an assist as the Chatham KIA Outlaws beat Petrolia 6-0.
