October 23: Local Sports Briefs
– The Dresden Kings will be looking for their third win in a row in Great Lakes Jr. C action tonight as they take on the Mooretown Flags at the Lambton-Kent Memorial Agricultural Centre with a 7:30pm start time. Lakeshore will be hosting Essex and Blenheim travels to Alvinston.
– Dede Cato scored two goals to lead the way for the ChathamMaroons las night as they beat Lambton Shores 6-2 in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League action. Ben Nicholls, Luc Knight, Connor Koviak and Ian Faubert also scored for the Maroons. Sarnia beat St Mary’s 5-4 while Leamington pounded St Thomas 8-1.
– Trevor Bogaert rushed for four touchdowns as the Wallaceburg Tartans beat the John McGregor Panthers 29-28 in 8-Man football play.
– The Wallaceburg Tartans got 14 points from Sawyer Fischer as they beat St Pat’s 47-44 in Overtime in Sr. Girls “AA-AAA” Basketball play. In “A” action Ridgetown beat St Francis Xavier by forfeit.
– The Fighting Irish knocked off the Tartans 41-36 in Jr. Girls “AA-AAA” play as Megan McCarter scored 15 for Wallaceburg in the loss. The Tilbury Titans notched their first win of the season in Jr. Girls “A” play as they edged Pain Court 21-18.
