– The Wallaceburg Lakers will be taking on the powerhouse Essex 73’s tonight at Memorial Arena in the lone game on the docket. Last night the 73’s beat the Wheatley sharks 6-1.
– Ridgetown’s Carson McKinlay finished third at the SWOSSA boys Gold Championships that were held at Kingsville Golf and Country Club. McKinlay shot a 73 on the day. Port Lambton’s Brendan Seys tied for fourth after shooting a 74. Haily Katona of Tilbury finished tied for second in the Girls SWOSSA Championship after she shot a 75 while Brooke MacKinnon of CKSS fired a 76 which was good for fourth place.
– The Kent High School tennis Championships were held yesterday and John McGrgor came to play claimingthree of the five titles. In Girls Doubles play Taylor Kewley and Alison Roe finished first while the boys Doubles Champs were Josh Ashby and Evan Thibert of CKSS. The Mixed Doubles winners were Darby Barnard and Nick VanderPaelt from John McGregor.
– In Girls “AA-AAAA” Basketball action The Wallaceburg Tartans remained undefeated as the topped the LCCVI Lancers 65-20. Brett Fischer scored 18 for the Tartans. The CK Golden Hawks Sr Girls suffered their first loss of the season 49-37 at the hands of St Clair. Burke Bechard scored 11 for the Hawks in the loss. St Pat’s beat the Pines 58-32 as Maddy Pearson scored eight points for the Lancers in the loss. In Junior action CK beat JMSS 55-19 as Maggie Denys scored eight for the Hawks. St Pat’s topped UCC 45-15 with carol Tran scored nine for the Lancers.
– In Girls “A” play the Christian Flames beat Blenheim 31-23 thanks to 10 points from Adele Steele scored 10 for the Flames while Dez Cloutier netted 10 for the Bobcats. Ridgetown got 12 points from Sophia Perpina as they beat the Lambton-Kent Cardinals 32-27. Jade Johnson scored 10 for the Cards. The Cardinals scored some revenge in the Junior game as they bounced the Royals 38-28 behind 17 points from Alexx Sewell.
