Former Chatham Maroons captain Steven Szekesy has signed with the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League’s (GMHL) Kingsville Kings.

“We couldn’t be happier to bring Steven on board. He has an excellent work ethic and is a proven leader; he will fit in really well with the club” stated Head Coach Gary Astalos in a team press release.

Szekesy, a defenseman, had 6 goals and 29 points in 46 games for the Chatham Maroons last season, and 144 points in 190 career Junior B games over the last 4 seasons with Chatham.

The Kingsville Kings are currently undefeated in the GMHL’s South Division with an 11-0 record.

Szekesy, a Belle River native is the first Chatham Maroons alumni to sign with a GMHL team this season although almost all of Chatham’s graduating players from last season were selected in the 2015 GMHL draft.
