Taylor To Play in Columbia
“It’s an honor to be chosen by a team that not only plays rugby, but does great things to give back to their own community and other places that they visit,” said Taylor of the honour.
Taylor, who plays rugby for the UCC Lancers high school team, and also won a silver medal at the Ontario Summer Games this past summer, will join the Howlers in Columbia for a series of games, as well as humanitarian efforts of bringing sport to area youth by donating equipment, and running clinics.
“This is such an exciting opportunity that I’m looking forward to,” added Taylor. “My high school coaches, Mr. Morkin and Mr. Phaneuf have really pushed the high school rugby in Chatham-Kent and instilled the love for the game. I wouldn’t be where I am today, if they didnt push me. I can’t wait to meet the people if Colombia and share the game with them.”
Taylor, who will play for Dog River’s U18 team, is the second Chatham-Kent product in the last year to travel to Columbia with the Howlers, as rugby player Sydnee Nolan made the trek last year.
