Chatham’s Bridget Carleton made an immediate impact with the NCAA’s Iowa State Cyclones women’s basketball team.

Carleton topped all Iowa State scorers with 19-points in a 79-36 win for Iowa State over Midwestern State in their exhibition opener.

It was really fun,” said Carleton following her debut. “It was a nerve racking experience at first, but the fans were awesome, it was just really good to get out there and play a game for the first time.”

“I just did whatever I could, when I had the open shot I took it,” continued Carleton. “Some of the shots fell, but my team found me when I was open, so that helped a lot.”

Carleton also had 5 rebounds playing a game high 36 minutes.

Before committing to Iowa State, Carleton played for Canada’s National Junior Team, as well as the London Ramblers of the JUEL league, and high school for the John McGregor Panthers.

Iowa State plays its second and final exhibition game Sunday against Concordia-St. Paul, before opening their regular season Friday, November 13 against Hampton.
