Ridgetown’s Carson McKinlay will follow in his brothers footsteps to play NCAA Division I golf for the Wayne State University Warriors.

Carson McKinlay, a Ridgetown District High School student, will join his older brother Crawford with Wayne State, with his brother also serving as a driving factor for his decision to commit to Wayne State.

“My brother is a big influence and has helped me a lot throughout my golf career,” says the younger McKinlay. “I went for a campus visit last year to get a better look at the school. There golf program is very competitive and hardworking. Wayne State has a lot of facilities to help improve my golf game in and out of season to bring my game to the next level. I’m very excited to play golf on the collegiate level and contribute to the team.”

Carson McKinlay, a Ridgetown Golf Club member, has been honing his skills on the Jamieson Junior Golf Tour for the past few seasons, finishing 8th overall in tour standings this summer.

The elder McKinlay, now a sophomore at Wayne State took his first tournament wins this season, and was a GLIAC All-Academic Athlete.
