Chatham’s Sydnye Gagner will get her first taste of an NCAA Tournament after the soccer star helped her Oakland University Golden Grizzlies capture an NCAA Horizon League championship, and advance to tournament play.

Sarah Reynolds scored her first goal of the season off a Joan Sieja corner in the 95th minute to lift Oakland to their first Horizon League title in school history, in a 1-0 victory over Wright State.

In the semi-final, Gagner scored on a penalty kick for Oakland to defeat Northern Kentucky 4-1.

A Chatham-Kent Secondary School graduate, Gagner plays midfield and forward for the Golden Grizzlies.

In 14 games this season she had a goal and an assist as a freshman.

Oakland and Gagner will face the Number 3 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish Friday, November 13.
