Locals Among World’s Toughest Mudders
Several local members of the Defiance Running Club in Wallaceburg took part in the World’s Toughest Mudder competition at Lake Las Vegas this past weekend.
Wallaceburg’s robot-like Joe Perry led the charge, in the 24-hour Tough Mudder insanity, completing 60 miles of the course, finishing second in his division and 88th overall. Perry, along with Matt Richie and Dave McCaughrin, earned entry into the event through impressive finishes at qualifying Tough Mudders.
Mark Childs, founder of the Defiance Running Club, recapped the event via Facebook:
Matt Richie. 25 miles, 119 division. 738 overall
Dave McCaughrin. 25 miles, 27 division, 815 overall
Joe Zack 30 miles, 140 division, 586 overall
Eric D. Jenkins 35 miles, 95 division, 465 overall
Joe Perry 60 miles, 2 division, 88 overall
Childs added that four of the five gentlemen listed suffered from varying degrees of hypothermia while Perry further proved that he is indeed a cyborg.
Overall winner for the ladies was Amelia Boone with 75 miles Overall team Sinergysports (Ryan Atkins and fellow Canadians) with 80 miles.
Overall men’s champion was Chad Trammell with 95 miles beating Trevor Cichosz by only 17 minutes.
Congratulations – and CAT scans – to all involved!
