The Wallaceburg Lakers have gone streaking! The Lakers made it two in a row with a 5-2 win over the second-place Amherstburg Admirals on Wednesday night.

Fresh off the heels of their first win of the season in Dresden last Friday night, Wallaceburg has built some additional confidence with back-to-back wins, in front of new goaltender George Hill.

Hill made 51 saves Wednesday night against one of the best offences in the league. The Lakers exploded for five goals of their own, led by Justin Lindsay’s two goals and one assist. George Wood, last year’s midget scoring champion in Bracebridge, opened the scoring on the power play 5:46 into the first and later added an assist on Lindsay’s second goal of the night, also on the powerplay. Justin Browning (power play) and Cory Lucier also scored for Wallacburg.

Ryan Holzel scored both of Amherstburg’s goals.

The Lakers were 3 for 6 with the extra man while the Admirals were o for 7. Wallaceburg will try to make it three in a row Friday night against the sixth place 6-7-1-1 Alvinston Flyers. Wallaceburg improved to 2-12, 5 points behind Dresden for eighth place.
