Wallaceburg Pee Wee #1 Now 7-0

wmhalakersOn Monday night the Subway Peewee #1 team found themselves in Petrolia trying to defend their unbeaten streak of 6-0 against an Oiler team with one of their own at 5-0.

Accepting the challenge Wallaceburg went into the game knowing that they would have a tough battle ahead of them and it was just that.  Both teams came out with determination in the first period matching each others intensity allowing only 7 shots combined with both goalies equal to the task and perfect when the first buzzer sounded.

The first goal came within a minute of the 2nd period when Petrolia managed to find the back of the net but Wallaceburg roared back within seconds and scored their first goal off the stick of Zander Cogghe assisted by Caiden Leach-Desangher and Josh Snelgrove.  Wallaceburg continued to attack, outshooting Petrolia and scoring two more goals before the end of the period courtesy of Quinlan Fields assisted by Ross Broadbent and Ewan MacDonald.  The third goal for Wallaceburg came from Ewan MacDonald who scored on a highlight reel breakaway with an amazing deke on the goalie.

In the 3rd period a resilient Petrolia team outshot Wallaceburg but goaltender “Macky” stood tall in net only allowing the one goal and allowing his team to add two more goals from Adam Atkins assisted by Ethan Burfield and Holden MacDonald as well as Zander Cogghe’s second of the night once again assisted by Josh Snelgrove and Caiden Leach-Desangher.

After the game the team celebrated their 7-0 record and the Player of the Game Chain went to Holden MacDonald for an all around defensive game.  Special mention goes out to Ewan MacDonald and “Macky” for great games.

The team now looks to a break in league play and enjoy a weekend tournament in Glencoe.  Great job by the whole team on a well deserved win and once again to all the fan support!!
