Bridget Carleton Recovering
Carleton suffered a gruesome facial injury last week playing in Cancun, Mexico against Duke. She took an elbow directly to the face while taking a charge in a game against Duke.
The hit gave Carleton a concussion, and required 8 stitches to her lip, as well as dental work, which began this week including a root canal to begin repairing her injured teeth.
“She’s making progress, she’s a tough kid,” Iowa State head coach Bill Fennelly told media. “She wants to play, but hopefully we’re making progress to getting her back on the court. We’re not close to that just yet.”
The 6’1″ NCAA freshman forward, and John McGregor graduate, was second in team scoring at the time of her injury, averaging 13.4 point per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.
The Iowa State coaching staff has not ruled out a return next weekend, although Carleton has already missed 3 games, and won’t be rushed back into action.
