Clachan’s Travis Konecny was one of 13 forwards named to Team Canada’s National Junior team for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships in Finland.

Konecny has worn the Maple Leaf twice already, captaining Canada’s World Under 17 Ontario entry, as well as Canada’s World U18 team at the Ivan Hlinka tournament.

The 1997 born forward also currently captains the OHL’s Ottawa 67s where he currently has 45 points in 29 regular season games this season.

A first round draft pick, 24th overall by the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers last season, Konecny will be pegged into one of Canada’s top two lines, and be expected to score for the Canadian squad.

Other notable forwards on Canada’s roster include Jake Virtanen, Dylan Strome, Mitch Marner, Lawson Crouse, and Brayden Point.

Team Canada and Travis Konecny will open the 2015-2015 World Junior Hockey Championships in Helsinki, Finland on December 26, for a Boxing Day match up with the United States.
