Philips Named Academic Player of the Month
Former Chatham resident Brock Philips was named the OHL Midwest Division Academic Player of the Month for November.
The 6’5″ defenseman who now calls Fergus, Ontario home, plays for the OHL’s Guelph Storm.
Currently, Philips holds an 87% average as a grade 12 student at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School.
“Brock holds himself to a very high standard in the classroom and continues to meet and exceed the academic goals he has set for himself,” explained Guelph Storm Academic Advisor Colleen Driscoll in an OHL news release.
“He is a conscientious and dedicated student who demonstrates both practical and technical proficiency.”
Philips has played 14 games for the Guelph Storm this season. He was born in Chatham, and played minor hockey in Chatham-Kent until 2006.
