After more than two weeks of voting, the Chatham-Kent Sports Network readers have selected Chatham’s Bridget Carleton as the 2015 Chatham-Kent Female Athlete of the Year. This is Bridget Carleton’s third consecutive CKSN Female Athlete of the Year honour.

Carleton, a multi-sport athlete, had an incredible year, primarily on the basketball court in 2015.

Carleton represented Team Canada, captaining her Canadian National Junior Team at the U19 World Championships in Russia, averaging 15.4 points per game, and 6 rebounds per game.

To close out 2015, Carleton was starring for the NCAA Division I Iowa State Cyclones, averaging 13.1 points per game, and 6.3 rebounds as a freshman. Through the first month of the season with Iowa State, Carleton had already been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week twice.

Carleton also played club basketball in 2015 for the JUEL’s London Ramblers, where she was the regular season scoring champion averaging 28.4 points per game, and was named a JUEL First Team All-Star and to the league All-Defensive Team.

At John McGregor Secondary School, Carleton won a LKSSAA badminton title for her school, and won the prestigious Dr. Jack Parry Award as Chatham-Kent’s top student-athlete.

With more than 2500 votes cast, Carleton took 38% of the vote.

The runner-up for Chatham-Kent’s Female Athlete of the Year is Sydnee Baker. Baker, a hockey player from Chatham, Baker spent the 2015 year suiting up for the PWHL’s London Devilettes and UCC Lancers hockey teams. Transferring to John McGregor to begin the 2015-2016 school year, Baker committed to play AUS hockey for the UPEI Panthers. In the PWHL, Baker sat in the top 5 in league scoring as the calendar flipped to 2016. Baker took 36% of the vote
