After a two week break, the Chatham Maroons are back in action this week as they re-open their GOJHL schedule Wednesday on the road against the London Nationals, and Friday in St. Marys.

Chatham currently sits in third in the GOJHL’s Western Conference with a 19-11-1-1 record.

Through the first two thirds of the season, Gus Ford leads the Chatham Maroons in scoring with 14 goals and 36 assists for 50 points in 32 games played. Following Ford is new captain Ian Faubert, who has 19 goals and 47 points in 32 games. Faubert replaced Brayden Hopkins as captain after Hopkins left the Maroons to return to Junior C.

Wheatley’s Austin Thompson holds the team lead in goals with 20.

The Maroons have seen many new faces injected into their lineup this season with 7 players from their opening night roster no longer with the team.

One question mark the Maroons do have heading into the final stretch of the season is in net. Parker Butler remains the man in Chatham after Brendan Johnston, who returned to the team earlier in the year was traded to the OHL’s Flint Firebirds, and recalled by the team. Backing up Butler has been Chatham product Zach Lindley, who plays Major Midget ‘AAA’ in Windsor. The Maroons will be on the hunt for another veteran goaltender to spell off Butler down the stretch.

Chatham’s first home game back will be Sunday, January 10 against the St. Thomas Stars.
