Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame Saturday
One of Chatham-Kent’s premiere annual events is set to honour and enshrine local deserving athletes and builders this Saturday night at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg during the Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony.
The event, catered by The Black Goose Grill, will see annual award winners recognized and a new selection of Hall of Fame members inducted.
This year’s honourary chairman is Guy “Ticker” Celotto. The 2016 Hall of Fame inductees include:
- Male Athlete—Brent Stucke
- Female Athlete—Karen Simpson
- Team—83/84 and 84/85 WDSS senior girls soccer teams
- Builder—Lorri and Tom Moynihan
- Masters Classic—Oscar ‘Trip’ Trepanier
Annual award winners are:
- Athlete Of The Year – Jordan Durston
- Outstanding Achievement – Brandon Donkers
- Coach Of The Year – Rory Smith, Chris Baertsoen and Mike Lane
- Builder Of The Year – Yvette Bowsher
- Ray Aarssen Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship – Alyssa Lucier
Tickets are $65 and are available at Kim Murray State Farm Insurance on McNaughton Ave in Wallaceburg or from any hall of fame committee member. Doors open at 5 with dinner at 6:30.
