Blades Open Round Two With OT Win
The two teams traded goals all night in Blenheim. To open the game, Lucas Hickey scored for the Blades, assisted by Nick Delzyer and Kier Cumming.
After a pair of Amherstburg goals, spanning into the second period, Braeden Allore scored on the powerplay for the Blades to tie the game. Brayden Hopkins and Zack Horvath picked up helpers.
Amherstburg would again go ahead on the scoreboard, but Blenheim’s Brayden Hopkins tied things at 3-3 before the second frame was out.
With the game ending in a 3-3 tie, it was Nick Delyzer who played hero, scoring with an assist from Blenheim netminder Eric Stewardson, to give the Blenheim Blades an early 1-0 season lead.
Game two will be Thursday in Amherstburg, before game three returns to Blenheim, Saturday, February 27 at 7:30pm.
