Dresden Raceway Next On The Block

It’s been a tough month for Chatham-Kent sports facilities. After Bothwell Arena was proposed to be cut, and later saved, Dresden Raceway is the next on the chopping block.

Earlier this month, a group of London area horse industry members authored a paper recommending the closure of Dresden Raceway, Leamington Raceway, and Hiawatha Horse Park in Sarnia.

Despite the proposal by the group, the trio of tracks were among those salvaged by the Ontario Government at the cessation of the Slots At Racetracks program.

Although the paper proposed the closure of Dresden’s track, nothing is set in stone, and Dresden already has a tentative 11 week schedule in place for the 2016 racing season.
