February 16 Local Sports Brief

CKXS-Morning-Sports-BriefsThe Frank Dymock Classic Hockey Tournament being touted as a huge success this weekend. 28 teams including 7 local teams put on a great display of hockey over the weekend.  5 of the 7 local teams advanced past the Round Robin portion of the tournament.  The Atom TC#1 team earned a Silver as did the PeeWee #1 team.

The Mooretown Jr Flags shut out the Wallaceburg Lakers Novice AE team 5-0 last night.  Major League Hockey action tonight at the Walpole Island Sports Complex as the Laker Atom AE team face the Mooretown Jr Flag Atoms,  then the PeeWee Girls go up against South Huron Sabres C team.  At Memorial Arena the Atom TC 1 team takes on the Dresden Jr. Kings Atoms and then the PeeWee Rep team will play the Mount Brydges Cougars.

Wallaceburgs Minor Midget Rep Team is starting the semi final round of the OMHA paydowns. The Midget Reps will travel to Lincoln for the first 2 games of the series this weekend

Lots of OHL action yesterday and last night, Trent Fox picking up a goal as Hamilton got by Kitchener 5-4, North Bay edged out Ottawa, Peterborough downed Windsor 6-5 in O-T, Sarnia Destroyed Saginaw 11- 4, Travis Konecny getting an assist on the night,  Mississaga dumped Sudbury 7-5.  No OHL action until Wednesday.

Jordon Durston had a goal in a tight loss for the Vancouver Stealth over the weekend the Stealth were bested by Rochester 16-15 in the National Lacrosse league

Wednesday Maddison Broad and Genevieve Sasseville will be leaving for Montreal to compete at the Eastern Canadian National swimming championships.
