CKXS-Morning-Sports-BriefsThe Great Lakes Jr C Semi-finals kick off tonight.  The Blenheim Blades will host the Amherstburg Admirals.  The Blades got by the Dresden Jr Kings in 6 games while the Admirals advances by sweeping the Wheatley Sharks 4 straight.  All the action can be heard live on 99.1 FM CKXS with the pre-game show at 7:35 this evening.  The other series that gets underway is the Essex – Mooretown series.  Essex swept the Alvinston Flyers in 4 games to advance while Mooretown defeated Lakeshore 4 games to 2.

The Wallaceburg Tartans and the North Vikings advance to the SWOSSA semi-finals in Boys High School Curling action.  The Tartans scored a victory over UCC but were beaten by North in the finals to capture the LKSSAA crown.  Both the Vikings and the Tartans do get to advance to SWOSSA.

The Ridgetown Royals girls curling team won the LKSSAA championship on Monday.  The Royals beat UCC as well as Northern on route to the LKSSAA title.

Torrie Handsor of Wallaceburg put up some big numbers as the St Clair College Women’s Basketball team finished up the regular season with a win over the Cambrian Golden Shield.  Handsor with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints in an 85-30 victory.  The Ladies now get set for the East Regional Championships.
