Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad, pictured with Pool Sharks head coach Kyle Pinsonneault has already claimed two gold medals at the Eastern Nationals in Montreal.

Madison Broad’s luggage is set to come home to Chatham-Kent slightly heavier than it left.
Through the first two days of competition at the highly touted Eastern National swimming Championship, the Wallaceburg native and Chatham ‘Y’ Pool Shark has brought home TWO gold medals, in the 100 metre backstroke and 50 metre backstroke.
Proud mother Clare Broad was ecstatic over Maddy’s results.
“I never thought she would medal at this meet as it is an Olympic year and all the fastest swimmers are here,” she told 99.1 CKXS
Although highly touted with a bright future, Broad had never previously medaled at this meet in years past. That has quickly changed as whispers about the near future of the C-K native are quickly escalating.
Broad’s two personal best finishes (28.87 in the 50 metre and 1:02.13 in the 100 metre) are the talk of the deck at the renowned competition in Montreal.
“She’s getting a lot of attention,” said her Pool Sharks head coach Kyle Pinsonneault. “From what we can tell, her swims were some of the fastest times recorded in the country this year. (Madison) shaved a second off of her previous best time. We did lots of tweaking on both the 100 and 50 back from prelims to finals to make these times happen. Great swim!”
Pinsonneault also wanted to credit Pool Shark Genevieve (Gigi) Sasseville who swam a life-time best 30.3 in the 50 metre butterfly.
