The UCC Lancers Boys “B” curling team composed of all grade 9`s finished off the regular season with a thrilling 6-5 win over Wallaceburg Tartans.

Wallaceburg skipped by Alex Gough jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first end only to have UCC Lancers skipped by Alex Jeromel answer with 2 of their own in the second frame. It was the third frame that the Lancers took advantage of missed opportunities by Wallaceburg to steal 3 and jump out to a commanding 5-2 lead at the end of the third end.

UCC then struck again in the fourth as vice Austin Haddock drew one to the button covered by a couple UCC stones to extend their lead to 6-2. Tartans never gave up and in the fifth end, with rocks scatter everywhere, skip Alex Gough made an unbelievable runback double takeout to score one and close the gap to 6-3.

In the final end teams traded shots trying to get the uphand and with Wallaceburg lying 2 and needing 3 to tie, Wallaceburg came up short scoring two and all but securing the Lancers with the victory.

What is sure to be what appeared to be a preview of the final, Wallaceburg finished the season 5-2 and UCC Lancers 7-0.

Next action for Wallaceburg is the quarter finals on Wednesday. UCC on the other hand gets a bi to the semi finals which will take place the following week.
