Blades Ousted By Admirals In Six
The Amherstburg Admirals used their Libro Centre home ice to their advantage on Thursday night, downing Blenheim 4-1 to move onto the Great Lakes Junior “C” playoff finals.
Amherstburg’s Luke Gangnon opened the scoring with a short-handed backhand beauty from Dylan Muzzatti and Broden Meloche. Just 26 seconds later, Blenheim responded with a power-play goal awarded to Brendan Ritchie, but appeared to come off the stick of Corbin Hagerman.
Gangnon’s second goal came on the power play, tipping in a Blaine Bechard point shot, eventually proving to be the game winner.
The Admirals solidified their win and march to the finals with two third period goals from Caleb Paquette, including an empty net goal after pick-pocketing a Blenheim d-man in front of his own net.
The Addy’s move on to play the back-to-back-to-back-to-back four-peating Jr C Champion Essex 73’s. Essex has won the league championship 11 of the last 14 years.
Senior graduating Blades players include Bryan Boersma, Kirk McKillop, Corbin Hagerman and Klinton Kenney.
