Chatham could not escape penalty trouble with 2002 fans on hand, allowing three powerplay goals in a 4-2 loss.
Mark Fratarcangelli opened the scoring in the game with a powerplay goal of Chatham’s own, with an assist going to Gus Ford.
Fratarcangelli however followed his goal with a hard working penalty, the allowed Leamington to even the score on a Mark Gagnon goal. Jacob McGhee scored for Leamington before the period was out to put them up 2-1.
In the second frame, Austin Thompson took a five minute major for head contact, and Michael Levesque added a minor, putting the Maroons down again. Matthew Opblinger scored a pair of powerplay goals for Leamington on the extended powerplay, putting the game on ice.
Ian Faubert would score in the third period, with assists to Ford and Ross Krieger, but it was too little too late.
