In front of a crowd of more than 2000 fans at Chatham’s Memorial Arena, the Chatham Maroons dropped game two of their GOJHL Western Conference semi-final series against the Leamington Flyers Sunday night.

Chatham, who won game one 6-5 in overtime, couldn’t repeat their performance, dropping game two 6-3.

After Luke Sanko scored the lone goal for the Leamington Flyers in the first period, Chatham came out flying in the second, capitalizing off of Leamington’s penalty trouble to take a 2-1 lead. Ryan Fraser scored first with assists going to Gus Ford and Connor Koviak, followed by a goal by Ross Krieger, with helped from Ian Faubert and Connor Mackinnon.

Leamington however would respond with a trio of powerplay goal of their own to regain a lead, which they would not give up.

In total, the Leamington Flyers scored 5 powerplay goals in the 6-3 win, with 6 different players hitting the scoresheet.

Ryan Fraser would add his second goal of the game for the Chatham Maroons in the third, with Faubert and Koviak assisting, but it was too little too late for the Maroons.

The Chatham Maroons playoffs schedule will continue with game three Tuesday in Leamington, and game 4 Wednesday in Chatham.
