The Essex 73’s now await their next challenge in the Jr C Playoffs as they knocked off the Mooretown Flags last night 6-2 to sweep the series in 4 games. The 73’s may have a bit of a wait as the series between Amherstburg and Blenheim is hotly being contested. Tonight will be the tie breaking game as both teams are going in with 2 wins. T.J. Brodie picked up another assist last night but still the Calgary Flames were burned by the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 in the NHL last night. The Flamers are in Boston tonight to play the Bruins.
The Wallaceburg Novice Lakers TC 1 team with a 6-2 win over the TC 2 team last night. The Strathroy Atom Rockets shutout the Lakers Atom AE team 3 – Nothing while the Petrolia Oilers downed the Peewee Lakers TC 2 team 5-2
A couple of runs for the brass ring in high school sports came to an end yesterday. The UCC Lancers who were going on a 3 year run at OFSAA were defeated by the St Anne Saints 4-3
The Chatham Kent Golden Hawks lost in 4 sets to Windsor’s Holy Names in the ‘AAA’ Sr Girls volleyball final yesterday at SWOSSAA.
In SWOSSAA A division Jr Boys basketball the Lambton Kent Cardinals lost 56-54 to the Lajeunesse Royals.
