March 23 Sports Briefs

The Chatham Maroons take a 1 game lead in their Jr B series with the Leamington Flyers and they hope to stretch that lead tonight.  The Maroons took game 3 in the series last night 5-4 and now take their 2 games to 1 lead into game 4 tonight at home.  Game time is 7 pm at Memorial Arena

The Wallaceburg Lakers TC 2 team are the Tri-County Atom hockey Champions.  The TC 2 team defeated the Wallaceburg TC 1 team 5-4.  The game went down to a shoot out and the TC 2 team skated away with a 5-4 victory and the Championship.  A unique situation in this game was that both goalies are cousins making for a split family in the stands.

High School Sports will get back to the regular routine in April as 12 Man Football will once again start up.  The first game of the 12 Man Jr Boys season will be April the 7th with UCC facing The Chatham Kent Golden Hawks
