The Chatham Maroons are off to round two of the GOJHL Western Conference playoffs after they eliminated the St. Thomas Stars in game 5 of their opening round series Thursday night.

After St. Thomas got on the board first, the Maroons scored six unanswered goals to take the 6-1 victory.

Ryan Fraser scored a pair of goals, and added an assist in the win in front of 921 fans at Chatham’s Memorial Arena.

Connor Koviak and Teddy McGeen each had a goal and two assists, while Ross Krieger had a goal and two assists.

Also scoring for Chatham was Devin Panzeca.

Brendan Johnston made 24 saves for the win in net.

The Chatham Maroons second round opponent is still to be determined, depending on the outcome of the Sarnia Legionnaires and LaSalle Vipers’ series.
