Maroons Comeback To Win Opener
After forty minutes Thursday, it appeared as though the Chatham Maroons might fall in game number one of their GOJHL Western Conference playoff series against the St. Thomas Stars.
The Maroons however, thought otherwise, scoring three third period goals for a 4-3 comeback win to open the playoffs.
St. Thomas got up 2-0 in the first frame before Ian Faubert got Chatham on the board midway through the second with a powerplay marker assisted by Connor MacKinnon. Carson Moniz would put St. Thomas up by two again in the dying seconds of the second period, putting the Maroons in a hole headed to the third.
In the third period though, a different Chatham Maroons team stepped on the ice with Faubert, Gus Ford, and Ross Krieger scoring to complete the comeback. Ryan Fraser had two third period assists.
Brendan Johnston took the win in net after replacing Parker Butler early in the game.
