April 11 Sports Brief

CKXS-Morning-Sports-BriefsWallaceburg’s Madison Broad with a fine showing at the Olympic Time Trials in Scarborough.  Maddie competing in the B Division finals in both the
100 and 200 meter backstroke.  She placed 10th in the 200 meter swim and 6th in the 100 event.  She did not make the Olympic team but did Wallaceburg proud.

The OHL playoffs are down to the quarterfinals.  The London Knights have a 2 games to none lead over the Kitchener Rangers.  The Knights with a 5-3 win last night.  The Niagara Ice Dogs with a commanding 3 games to none lead over Kingston.  The Dogs Iced Kingston 3-2 in overtime.  The North Bay Battalion looking to tie up their series with the Barrie Colts tonight as game 2 moves into the Molson Center in Barrie.  The Soo Greyhounds will host Erie tonight for game 3 of their series.  The Hounds trail 2 games to none.

The Wallaceburg Lakers Peewee Girls brought home the Silver medal from the Ontario Women’s Hockey Provincials that were held in Toronto over the weekend

The London Nationals now move onto the Sutherland Cup semi finals.  The Nationals got by the Leamington Flyers in 6 games to advance.  The Nationals will be facing Stratford.

Ayr swept the Essex 73’s in 4 games straight to move on to the Schmalz Cup finals.

Jordon Durston of Wallaceburg with a goal and 2 helpers but still the Vancouver Stealth can not put the mark in the win column.  The Stealth fell to the Calgary Roughnecks 16-12 in the National Lacrosse League over the weekend.

The Wallaceburg Thrashers lacrosse team picked up a win in exhibition play over the weekend.  The Thrashers downing the Point Edward Pacers 11-3. Carter Hastings with 4 goals on the night.

High School 12 man Football is back on the fields today.  WDSS will be playing the Blenhiem Bobcats while the Chatham Kent Golden Hawks entertain UCC.
