The Sporting Community is mourning the loss of Jordon Shine. Shine was found dead at a home in Toronto over the weekend. An investigation into the cause of death continues. Jordon Shine played with the Wallaceburg Lakers and the Dresden Jr Kings, he was only 27.
The North Bay Battalion trail the Barrie Colts 2 games to none in the series. The Colts with a 3-2 overtime win over the Battalion last night to stretch their lead in the series. The 2 teams are back on the ice in North Bay this evening. The Soo Grey Hounds are closing the gap in their series with the Erie Otters. The Hounds posting a 3-2 win last night, the series now stands at 2 games to 1 for the Otters. The London Knights – Kitchener Rangers series resumes tonight with the Knights owning a 2 games to none lead in the series.
Everyone has been speculating about the new owner of the Wallaceburg Lakers. The Club has said they will introduce the new owners at a news conference tomorrow at 2 in the afternoon at the Wallaceburg Legion. The news conference is open to the public.
Keahna Riley of Walpole Island has made the Ontario Under 17 girls basketball team. Riley is a grade 10 student at WDSS and what makes her story so great is that the 6 footer has only been playing basketball for 3 years.
