Broad Not An Olympian… YET
Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad proved to be a rising star this weekend at the Canadian Olympic time trials in Scarborough.
The 15-year-old Chatham ‘Y’ Pool Shark finished 10th in the ‘B’ final of the women’s 200 metre backstroke, competing alongside the best talent in the country.
Madison’s initial burst has been credited as among the best in the water. That trend continued on Sunday as she was positioned in first place after the first 50 metres in the ‘B’ final.
Broad recorded a personal best of 2:17:08 in the 200 preliminaries, another recurring habit in 2016. She entered the ‘B’ finals in 21st place, finishing 10th.
Last week, Broad placed 6th in the 100 metre backstroke ‘B’ finals.
The Chatham-Kent product isn’t an Olympian… YET. That appears like it certainly may change in time.
