McNear Steps Down From Blades
The Blenheim Blades will have a new head coach behind the bench for the 2016-17 season.
Bob McNear Jr. has reportedly stepped down from his position after a second place finish in the regular season and a deep playoff run.
Following their playoff elimination, McNear told 99.1 CKXS he had to take a moment to contemplate his future with the club.
McNear has been open in his desire to coach his son at the minor hockey level. Bob will be remembered for a successful run with the Blades organization, leading them to numerous winning seasons.
McNear was inducted into the Blades Hall of Fame this past season for his contributions as a former player, coach and executive member.
Only Essex had a better regular season than the Blades this year, who entered the season with a league championship in mind.
The Blades were defeated in the Great Lakes Junior C playoff semi-finals by the Amherstburg Admirals.
