Ballhawks Recognize Success
Tuesday night May 3rd, the Chatham Ballhawks VBC held their 41st annual year end banquet at the Retro Suites.
Highlights for the season included:
- The club had over 100 athletes on 10 competitive teams participating in OVA this year – bringing home 15 medals in OVA action this year
- 17U girls won gold at Ontario Provincials Championships as well as grabbing 3 silvers and a bronze in 4 out of 5 OVA tournaments entered this season.
- 18U boys ended the year at Ontario Championships 9th in the province (Tier 1)
- 2 players from the Ballhawks program have committed to university teams for next season: Connor Szabo – Guelph, and Brad Paraskevopolous – Brock
- 13U girls ended the year ranked 24th out of 64 teams in the whole province
- The 14U girls, 15U girls, and 16U girls teams were multiple medal winners this season
The Chatham Ballhawks organization also handed out OVA Awards of Excellence (awarded by teams from 13-16u):
- 13 girls Fiona Van Mol [Ridgetown]
- 14 girls Laurin Ainsworth [Blenheim]
- 15 girls Reece Cowan [Chatham]
- 16 girls Riley Ellis [Dresden]
- 14 boys Luke Smolders [Chatham]
- 15 boys Drew Koluk [Chatham]
- 16 boys Aiden Anjema [Chatham]
Guest Speaker for the night was Maddy Hiltz, former Ballhawk player and a CKSS grad, currently a member of the Western Mustangs Women’s VB Team.
