Pool Sharks Keep Their Place
The Chatham Pool Sharks fought hard to keep their place in Division II at the Swim Ontario Team Champs meet this past weekend. This is the only meet each year where clubs compete against each other for cumulative points, rather than individual points. The points are used to determine what division each club belongs in. For the size of the Pool Sharks, Division II is a great fit. Small clubs can have fast swimmers but they don’t often have as many compete at this level, so for the Pool Sharks,
keeping their place in Division II was a huge accomplishment.
Bringing home 14 medals and 39 top 8 finishes, Team Champs also signals the official start to long course season. Swimming has two distinct seasons – short coursewhich begins in September and runs until the end of March/early April and then long-course which finishes the season.
